The real life story depicted in the film is based on the unique relationship built up between the National Union of Miners in the Swansea Valley and the Lesbian and Gay community in London at the time of the Miners Strike in the 80’s. One of the key activists at the NUM was BECTU Official and former miner, David Donovan (played in the film by Patrick Considine), who will be present at the event, alongside USW lecturer, Daryl Perrins.

There will be opportunities for BECTU members and students/lecturers to informally network post screening.

The schedule for the evening goes as follows:

18:00: Introduction from BECTU & Talk from Daryl Perrins
18:30: Pride Screening
20:30: In conversation with David Donovan & Q&A
21:00: Drinks & Networking – Meet the crews & students
